Today ended the 14th EU Youth Chess Championships in Mureck. We hope you had a nice time in Styria.

06.08.2016, round 5
Five rounds are played in the Eureopean Union Youth Championships in Mureck. Two players from Bulgaria have still a perfect score. In the age group U08 Martin Dimitrov leads the table with five points. The same strong performance shows Dilyana Ivanova in the U10.

The leaders in the other age groups have 4.5 points. Laurent Huynh (BEL)  is first in the U14, Ryszard Cwiek (POL) in the U12. All leaders have already one point distance to the next players. Anyway, there are still four rounds to go and the fight for the medals willt be tough.

02.08.2016, Opening ceremony
The 15th European Youth Chess Championships and the 24th Styrian Youth Open started today with the opening ceremony at 2:30 p.m. in the cultural hall of Mureck. Organizer Erich Gigerl thanked the 140 players from 18 federations for coming. The Styrian government was represented from Alexandra Nagl, the Head of the Styrian youth and family department. Anton Vukan, the Mayor of Mureck and Kurt Jungwirth, the President of the styrian chess federation, welcomed the participants in Mureck. The delegation from Poland thanked them all for 15 years organizing this event. They mentioned especially the support of the governent and the region.

Nine days of had fights will follow. All results and games are published in the tournament database of "chess-results.com". Notice that this pages are available immediately after each round. Chess-Results offers different languages. Furthermore we will offer photos in our webgallery, this special and live games.
