11.08.2016, Round 9 - Closing Ceremony 
Today ended the 14th EU Youth Chess Championships in Mureck. We hope you had a nice time in Styria.

07.08.2016, Round 5 - Photos EU U08
Five from nine rounds are already played. It's time to have a look to the favorites.

In the European Union competitions we will have new champions for girls and boys in a few days. In the age group U14 four players are leading tied: Maetzkow (GER), O'gorman (IRL), Schulz (GER) and Prato (AUT), all four points. Lara Schulz is also the best girl u p to now.  In the age group U12 Momchil Petkov (BUL) is a clear leader with five points. He is one point ahead to David Schernthaner (AUT). Best girl is NIka Kralj (SLO) with 3,5 points. The age group U10 brings with Vesna Mihelic (SLO) a girl as leader. The best boys are Philipp Wendl (AUT) and Matic Narks (SLO) half a point behind Mihelic. Finally we have the age group U08. Simeon Todev brings Bulgaria a second leader. Like Petkov he has five points and a perfect score. One point behind is the best girl, Zofia Lazniewska (POL) on the second place.

The Styrian Youth Open has a German Leader in the U16 competition. Lars Kasueschke has 4,5 points. Same points has AMadej Kastelic, who is actual the leader in the U10 competition. The favorites are clear but there are still four rounds to go...

03.08.2016, Opening Ceremony and round 1
The European Union Chess Championships in Mureck started today with the opening ceremony and the first round. The ceremony was held from FIDE Vicepresident Kurt Jungwirth, who is also president from the Austrian Chess Federation. He was assisted from Cornelia Schweiner (Member of the Styrian Parliament), Toni Vukan (Mayor from Mureck), Kerstin Lipp (Head of the Styrian Youth department) and Rosa Marko (District Governour of South-East Styria). They all mentioned that this event is held now for the 14th time in Styria and the 13th time in Mureck. The championship was invented from Kurt Jungwirth and Erich Gigerl in 2003 as a project of Graz as a cultural capital of Europe.

European Youth Chess Championships starts on 2th of August with the arrival day in Mureck. You will find all results and games in the tournament database of "chess-results.com". Notice that this pages are available immediately after each round. Chess-Results offers different languages. Furthermore we will publish photos in our webgalery.

We hope you enjoy our services and this event. Don´t hesitate to ask for photos in a better quality or any other informations for media or your websites.
